Holmium laser enucleation of the prostate and Aquabeam® hydroablation.
He holds a degree in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Oviedo and trained as a urology specialist at Hospital de Cabueñes (Gijón). He was a consultant urologist at Hospital Universitario Fundación Alcorcón and then at Hospital Universitario La Paz, where he set up and led the prostate laser surgery programme.
Today he heads the holmium laser enucleation of the prostate programme at Hospital Nuestra Señora del Rosario and Hospital Universitario HLA Moncloa. He has developed enucleation techniques that preserve ejaculation, with holmium and thulium laser, and laser enucleation in patients already treated with hydroablation. He is trained in prostatic hydroablation with the Aquabeam® system.
Part of his work is devoted to training other urologists: he directs courses of the Spanish Urological Association and teaches the HoLEP technique at international congresses. His practice is at C. del Príncipe de Vergara, 53, Madrid.
